About Our Non-Profit Company

Northern Kane Educational Corp. came into being late in 2004 for the initial purpose of implement the approved, commissioned research to create a learning center in Pingree Grove, Illinois. The Treasury Department granted the corporation 501(c)(3) status a year later. The application for a charter to operate a K-8 community school on the learning center campus provides additional insight into the fundamental corporate mission.

Mission Statement

Northern Kane Educational Corp will:
  1. Creatively address the current and future educational needs of Pingree Grove and its environs with all due haste.
  2. Enter into a dynamic, innovative, participative partnership with CUSD 300 to meet the needs of P-12 students in Pingree Grove.
  3. Create and operate at least one learning center to serve as a P-8 school and lifelong learning center for the Cambridge Lakes and Pingree Grove community.
  4. The community Learning Center will apply these foundational concepts . . .
      1. flexible, adaptable and scalable buildings,
      2. proven, rigorous K-8 core curriculum administered by a proven educational management firm,
      3. world-class, innovative design, leading to
      4. innovate learning space, clustered to achieve a
      5. small-school feel and operation,
      6. community school organization to increase participation,
      7. Pre-school, after-school and summer services to meet the needs of young families.
      8. lifelong learning opportunities, and
      9. establish community partnerships to foster a wide-array of rigorous learning.

    All of these conceptual elements shall be strategically inter-related to create a high performance organization.

    Mission Statement

    Cambridge Lakes Charter School will facilitate learning among its youthful students (P-8) in a way that will--

    ·            Infuse a core of knowledge and literacy upon which they can build throughout their lives.

    ·            Help them envision their future and prepare for it with care and diligence.

    ·            Introduce them to the world, outside their learning center, that contains resources and means of discovery and learning.

    ·            Develop critical-thinking and communication skills.

    ·            Develop skillful use of electronic media and an ability to draw from the digital realm for learning and life.

    ·            Stimulate character development with pro-active application.

    ·            Encourage responsible citizenship and social skills.

    ·            Engage parents with their children in the learning process.

    ·            Model high performance and continuous improvement.

    Envisioning the Future

    • In the spring of 2009, the Cambridge Adult Learning Center will offer its first degree completion plan.
    • Cambridge Virtual Academy will introduce its first online course offerings.
    • School's Out will expand its learning enhamcement offerings for Summer & Fall. 2009
    • Planning will begin for Cambridge Academy, a new center for accelerated learning.
    • The drive for Campus completion will continue to accelerate.
